In detail

The ZERO 18,000 BTU wall-mounted heat pump heats and cools a 800 to 1,200 sq ft space: a bedroom, a basement, a home office, a cottage or a garage. With a SEER2 of 23.5 and an HSPF2 of 11, it keeps its heating capacity down to −30 °C and runs on R454B, the refrigerant that meets Canada’s 2025 rules.

It comes in two versions: Standard, installed by a refrigeration technician, and DIY, with pre-vacuumed line sets and quick connectors so you can install it yourself. Both qualify for rebate programs: Standard with the installer’s invoice, DIY with Kanartic’s in-home commissioning service.

Included in the box: indoor unit, outdoor unit, insulated line set, wall sleeve, backlit remote with I-Feel sensor, and Wi-Fi module (works with Alexa, Siri, IFTTT and Home Assistant). Warranty: 10 years on the GMCC compressor, 5 years on parts, with technical support from Kanartic in Quebec.

What area does a 18,000 BTU heat pump cover?

Roughly 800 to 1,200 sq ft, depending on insulation, ceiling height and windows. If unsure, call Kanartic at 1 866 211-8441.

Does it really heat at −30 °C?

Yes. The model is ENERGY STAR Cold Climate certified and keeps heating down to −30 °C outdoors. For a whole house, plan backup heat for the coldest nights.

Standard or DIY: what is the difference?

Same unit. The Standard version is installed by a technician (vacuum, commissioning). The DIY version ships with pre-vacuumed line sets and quick connectors: mount, connect, open the valves.

Is it eligible for rebates?

Yes, in both versions. Programs require an invoice from a qualified contractor: your installer’s invoice for Standard, or Kanartic’s in-home commissioning service for DIY, with an official invoice.
