Climate: will it heat enough?

The winter design temperature is the one your winter stays above 97.5% of the time: it is what sizes a heating system. ZERO systems are ENERGY STAR Cold Climate certified and heat down to −30 °C.

Verdict: across New Brunswick, a properly sized ZERO covers the design temperature with no backup. Pick the capacity from area and insulation and keep a 20% margin for deep cold.

Standard or DIY for the rebate?

Programs in New Brunswick generally require installation by a contractor licensed in the province. To get a rebate, choose the Standard version and have a local technician install it; they will give you the required invoice. The DIY version remains the best pick for a cottage, garage or room addition without a rebate. Kanartic’s in-home commissioning is offered in Quebec only.

The oil-to-heat-pump stream (OHPA) has been closed to new registrations since June 30, 2026. Amounts and conditions checked on the official sites on October 23, 2026. Programs change: always confirm your eligibility before buying.
